Electrical Brain Stimulation can be a Blessing to Stroke Patients
A recent study has shown that electrically stimulating the brain can be a great help to stroke patients in improving their ability to swallow.
Nearly 50% of those who suffer a stroke have difficulty in swallowing, medically termed asĀ  dysphagia. This can lead to more complications for stroke patients.

Transcranial direct current stimulation was employed by scientists to stimulate the brain. This was done by attaching electrodes to the scalp of a stroke patient.

Electric currents pass through the electrodes and focus on specific regions in the brain.

This study showed that brain stimulation helped improve the swallowing abilities of 86 percent of patients who received it.
