Suspected encephalitis in India’s Bihar State has taken a toll of 25 lives including that of three children. There is panic among the people of Bagaha District of the State after the deaths. Chanrika Roy, the Health Minister of Bihar however seems to be unaware of the disease.
The district civil surgeon Arundhati Roy has put the death toll at 12. Encephalitis is characterized by inflammation of the brain caused by a virus.The district administration is yet to send a medical team to study the cause and spread of the disease.
