A study by researchers of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences found that exercise is a great boon for pregnant women as babies born to such women were blessed with healthier hearts. Prenatal yoga classes and low-impact aerobic activities for pregnant women was found to be good for the health of the fetus as well as the pregnant women.
Linda E. May, an exercise physiologist and anatomist, said, “It is my hope that these findings will show that efforts focused on improving health need to start during pregnancy rather than in childhood. Most of the focus today is on school-age children, but interventions should be focused long before that”.
The study found that women who exercised for atleast 30 minutes three times a week delivered babies with lower heart rates which is a sign of good heart health.
