People in the age group of 70 years and above should go for physical activities if it is possible for their body to do so. This may help them in preventing problems of movement settling in their body earlier than ever. This is what the researchers had talked about in the recent issue of Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.Researchers recommend that 1.5 hours to 2 hours of walking every week can go a long way in keeping the elderly people mobile and in good physical, cognitive and mental health. Mobility loss is something the geriatric population often experience due to a change in the body composition that happens as a result of diseases that affect their health. Moderate physical exercise coupled with an active lifestyle can reduce the rapid deterioration of the ability to move for the elderly people.
The research done was a pert of the Health, Aging and Body Composition Study that followed the health of 3075 people in the age group of 70 and 79 years olds for a periodof seven years.
