Experts Say Stopping Global Warming Could Cost 150 Pounds a Year for Every Human

A new study has said that putting a cap on global warming can cost up to 150-pound-a-year for every individual.

A new study has said that putting a cap on global warming can cost up to 150-pound-a-year for every individual.

The sum would allow a five percent reduction in emissions by 2020.

However, the British Met Office says this means the world would have only a 50 percent chance of putting a check to the current global target of 2C.

Computer models have estimated the cost to be about 2.5percent of the world's 36trillion gross domestic product annually.

Developed countries are likely to carry more carry more of a burden.

Met Office's Dr David Lowe pointed out that the carbon content in air is currently rising at the rate of three per cent a year.

He said geo-engineering solutions such as propelling sea spray into the air to make clouds or placing giant mirrors in space to reflect sunlight may be help achieve the 2C target.

"There are pathways that lead to 2C but they are very challenging," the Sun quoted him, as saying.
