Tabatha McElligott, a 19-year-old teenager, had a life changing experience two years back. She almost lost her life due to extreme fear after a teacher yelled at her for missing a class. On that fateful day, Tabatha and her friend missed their class and when they returned, the teacher took them to task in a rather harsh manner. Absolutely terrified after the showdown and fearing that she could be detained, she simply blacked out.
She was rushed to the hospital where she underwent life saving surgery. Apparently, Tabatha, who was a victim of a rare heart condition, had actually suffered a heart attack due to extreme fear. Since she was rushed to the hospital in time, doctors could save her.
Unaware that she was a victim of a rare heart problem, Tabitha said, “My heart was a time bomb. I’m fortunate that when it did stop there was someone who could help me. So I have trained as an emergency responder, it might save someone else’s life”.
Presently, she works in a theatre and is trained in administering first aid to critical patients . It was her near-death experience that inspired her to choose a profession where she could help save people’s lives.
