The US Food and Drug Administration has given its approval for the first ever antivenom drug for scorpion stings.
Developed in Mexico, the Anascorp, Centruroides (Scorpion) Immune F(ab)2 (Equine) Injection has been tested in the United States and is the first drug that has been developed in Latin America to be approved by the FDA.

Commenting on the approval, FDA’s Karen Midthun said, “This product provides a new treatment for children and adults and is designed specifically for scorpion stings. Scorpion stings can be life-threatening, especially in infants and children.”
