FDA Approves Smith and Nephew’s Wound Therapy System

Smith and Nephew revealed that its single use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system, PICO has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration

London based medical devices company Smith and Nephew revealed that its single use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system, PICO has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to be used in both hospital and homecare settings.

The pocket sized device has already been approved in Canada, Europe and Australia and the FDA’s approval means that NPWT will now be an option for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery and general surgical procedures.
