FDA Approves Vera Video Game to Market as a Rehabilitation Medical Device
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Reflexion Health’s Microsoft Kinect-powered exercise game to be marketed as a rehabilitation medical device.
The Vera is a prescribable video game that tracks the user’s body motion using the Kinect 3D camera. It uses a virtual coach to guide the user to rightly perform all the rehab routines.

As the game tracks the user, it records the adherence of the patient to the prescribed routines. Different treatments can be prescribed based on the requirements of each patient and videos along with other materials can be used to prepare the patient for the regimen.

Basically, it’s designed to be a virtual rehab specialist that’s guided by a human professional that you can be used in home and work with via a television.
