FDA had issued a guideline called Pharmacogenomic Data Submissions for practicing physicians to check the patients from suffering adverse effects of cocktails of drugs and diet.

Pharmacogenomics is the procedure adopted by physicians to find out the patient’s profile of response to drugs and decide on the unique treatment option best suited to the patient’s requirement. These are basically a set of tests developed to identify for example, which form of cancer responds to a certain kind of medication.

The result of such procedures will be personalizing the treatments through multiple attempts that will result in doctors identifying the patient’s genetic patterns and prescribe drugs that will give the best-suited results for the patients.

As a part of this intervention, FDA has approved the first laboratory test called the Amplichip Cytochrome P450 Genotyping Test. This will provide the medical practitioners with the patients’ genetic information which will go a long way in helping the physicians in deciding the right medication and dosage for diseases like cardiac diseases, psychiatric illnesses, and cancer.
