Dr. Lawrence Deyton, the tobacco chief of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said that there will not be much of an impact made by the lawsuits filed by cigarette makers against the agency.
"Congress is very clear what it wants me to do, I'm moving ahead. Nobody's told me not to," Deyton said in an interview to the Reuters. He added that companies like Reynolds America Inc and Lorilland Inc will not be an impediment to his office or to its function of identifying products that harmed people especially children.The FDA Center for Tobacco Products was established in June and is charged with regulating tobacco products. The ban on flavored tobacco has not gone down well with companies, who have sued the agency.
