The FDA has tightened its control on the entry of dietary supplements and has now embarked on the job of regulating dietary ingredients in the dietary supplements available in the U.S. According to the New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification protocols issued by the FDA, any organization which intends to sell or develop a supplement containing new ingredients must inform the FDA.
The FDA will thoroughly evaluate the safety of the new ingredient and incase the FDA finds it unsafe, the dietary supplement can even be completely recalled from the market.
