Concern and fear looms large in the minds of old people and close relatives of the old, as a recent survey revealed the high risk of abuse and ill treatment in care homes for the aged.
One out of six care homes did not give proper treatment to patients and the most important aspects of dignity and respect was being compromised, inspections by the Care Quality Commission found.

Nearly 70% of adults are scared to enter care homes due to risk of poor treatment and abuse. The worrying part is, not much is being done to tackle this issue. Close relatives feel that quality of care is being compromised in care homes.

AYouGov poll of 2,000 adults started by the charity found that 70% of those surveyed were afraid to get into a care home and 53% felt the biggest risk was abuse. 64 per cent are of the opinion that not enough is being done to bring about a change in the treatment of the old and sick at care homes.
