Flex Robotic System Creates Easy Access To Perform Transoral Surgeries On Mouth And Throat
Medrobotics recently released its Flex Robotic System which has recived its FDA clearance. The device created to perform transoral surgeries on the mouth and throat that require work which are difficult to access.
The device is made up of a scope which can move to the treatment site and then becomes rigid in order to provide a stable working environment. It has a high-definition camera and channels for two “wristed” instruments that help operate in tight spaces.

The scope is made up of a series of components, interconnected side by side which can be made to move easily. This allows physicians to reach places which a rigid scope cannot and perform procedure that may otherwise have required a more invasive approach, if not for this device.

The instruments are designed to fit and be flexible and can pass through the working channels even when the scope itself has multiple twists and turns. The system received European regulatory approval in March of last year.
