Former Kerala chief minister K. Karunakaran, admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital last Sunday, is recovering and is likely to be discharged within the next few days, family sources said Friday.
The 89-year-old four-time chief minister arrived at the hospital for a routine check-up Sunday. However, the doctors advised that he be kept under medical observation as he complained of breathlessness.The veteran leader has been out of active politics after merging his party, Democratic Indira Congress-Karunakaran -- which he launched after quitting the Congress -- with the Nationalist Congress Party.
