Inability to absorb food, following a gastric bypass surgery last year, led to the death of a former nurse, an inquest at Brighton County Court was told.

She also suffered from other medical conditions like asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Post surgery last year, she had recovered well and the progress was in line with expectations.
She was recently admitted to the hospital with extreme weight loss and vomiting; she had lost 10 stone in six months. Finally, she passed away on May 9th this year.
The inquest heard that the surgeons who performed the operation at University College London Hospital (UCLH) may not have got the correct measurements before they carried out the procedure.
Incorrect measurements may have led to improper length of the common channel which may have reduced the ability to absorb food.
