Scotland's state hospital has been given a clear idea about the expectations of the alcohol and drug programmes for the patients in the midst of psychiatric treatments. While acknowledging the improvement in reducing waiting times for patients, Lewis McDonald the deputy health minister pressed the need for further enhancements in the treatment procedures for patients.

Mr. McDonald said: "It's vital that the State Hospital ensures public safety by providing secure, high-quality care to help patients recover where possible and to live their lives as fully as possible. The services that the State Hospital Board provide are unique and the staff there are committed to providing patient care and treatment to the highest standards, in conditions of high security."
