The medical future of the California fertility doctor who helped a woman give birth to octuplets is still up in the air
The medical future of the California fertility doctor who helped a woman give birth to octuplets is still up in the air with the Medical Board of California yet to decide on whether to allow him to keep his license. Dr Michael Kamrava had implanted Nadya Suleman with 12 embryos, which is six times the recommended number for a woman of her age. Dr Kamrava said that she had agreed to come for a fetal reduction if too many of the embryos became viable.
However she failed to show up and instead gave birth to octuplets. Dr Kamrava is also charged with dispensing substandard care to two other patients which led to Judge Daniel Juarez recommending suspension of his license.
The Medical Board of California has refused to provide a provisional decision saying that Dr Kamrava can keep his license and revealed that they will be announcing the decision after a meeting in May.
