Comedian Jim Carey strongly believes in Gandhi’s advice that one cannot find happiness without a good diet.
The 46-year-old Canadian revealed this while telling, during an interview, how he copes with depression in real life.He said that after two ailed marriages — eight years with waitress Melissa Womer, with whom he had a daughter, Jane, now 20, and ten months with actress Lauren Holly — he had become dependent on prescription drugs to stay positive.
Carey further said that it was a healthy diet that helped him turn away from prescription drugs, and feel much better.
“People have no idea how important food really is, that what you put in your mouth has something to do with your emotional life. I believe that the best fuel for humans are vegetables and protein. It makes you feel great," British tabloid The Sun quoted him as saying.
“I’ve been seeing an acupuncturist. He told me that people would be much better off if they stopped thinking of food as entertainment. And I agree with that. Even Gandhi said that you cannot have happiness without controlling the palate,” he added.
He said that everyone could beat negative feelings by working on their mental fitness.

“Everybody has a certain amount of darkness in life — and I am not free of pain either. Today, though, I have a different perspective on it than I used to have. I have grown a lot spiritually and as a person over the last couple of years,” he added.
