It has been found that elders in hospitals and care homes are not being properly attended to in London. As a result of this, many of them are said to be in hunger for most of the time. This was disclosed by minister for health Ivan Lewis.
Commencing the ‘Dignity for older people’ campaign Mr. Lewis said that issues during the meal time of elderly people should be thoroughly understood. When the food is kept far from an old person and nobody is around to assist him, it becomes an extremely difficult issue.Family members of the geriatrics claim that the food given to these people are not interesting enough to eat and sometimes it is not nutritive also. This is certainly going to have an adverse effect on their health when the diet is not balanced.
Mr. Lewis also felt that the treatment meted out to the elder generation has a direct bearing on the type of nation that they belong.
