Nearly half of the adult population in Britain believes that wearing glasses makes a person look cleverer than he really is. According to the study conducted by the College of ¬Optometrists, more than 43 percent believe that glasses makes a person look clever while over 40 percent are willing to wear glasses to interviews in order to increase their chances of getting a job.
Over 9 percent wear glasses because it makes them look attractive while 6 percent opt for glasses since they are fashionable.
Commenting on the study, Dr Susan Blakeney, Optometric Advisor to the College of Optometrists said, “It's great to see a shift in how we perceive glasses. However, it's important to remember that regardless of fashion trends, wearing spectacles is about seeing clearly and comfortably - not just appearance.”
