Good News for Infertile Men

One of the causes of male infertility is variococeles; blocked varicose veins in the testicles.

One of the causes of male infertility is variococeles; blocked varicose veins in the testicles.

A German team of scientists attending the yearly meeting of the Radiological Society of North America came up with a presentation of how this problem can be solved. Though other health professionals do not vouch for the test, as a control was not done, these scientists opine that a simple and non-invasive surgery may rectify this problem. The procedure termed embolization; involves inserting a tube into the groin and pointing it towards the varicocele.

A tiny platinum coil put in at this point stops blood flow through the faulty veins and hinders it from entering another passage.

This procedure was performed on 173 men who were considered infertile and results showed that twenty-six percent of the men or 45 couples were even recorded to have reported conception.

According to Sebastian Flacke this study is a confirmation that sperm count and motility can be significantly increased by varicocele repair.
