The Indian government has embarked on an ambitious scheme to fight diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart ailments and stroke.

Around 32,000 people will be trained to provide opportunistic and targeted screening, diagnosis and management of non-communicable diseases.
Of the Rs 1,231 crore, some Rs 499 crore will go interventions on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and stroke, while the rest will be spent for cancer control. Of the total outlay, the Center will pay 80%, while the states will fund the remaining 20%.
