The state government in Uttar Pradesh will be keeping an eye on teachers in government-run schools after deciding to install a solar-run bio metric attendance system in all the schools to keep track of teachers’ attendances. A control room will be set up in the state capital to keep a record of teachers' attendance.
As part of the pilot project, a solar bio-metric system was set up at the Mati Higher Secondary School in Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow Tuesday. Besides registering attendance, it will keep an eye on the mid-day meal scheme.
Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Alok Ranjan, who inaugurated the system, told IANS that it would monitor attendance of both teachers as well as students.
Officials of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which oversees the mid-day meal programme, said many school teachers were not attending their duties.
