The Indian government is likely to give a major boost to health insurance, apart from other grassroots and resource-starved sectors in a bid to arrest slowdown in the union Budget to be presented next month. A big chunk of funds for capital expenditure will go towards universalization of health insurance, to be administered by the labour ministry.
The finance ministry had agreed to hike Gross Budgetary Support for planned expenses by 18 per cent to Rs 5,21,000 crore, which is 80,000 crore more than in the current financial year.
