Granite Countertops may Release Cancer Causing Gas

A report in the New York Times has revealed that granite countertops may be releasing radon gas that causes cancer.

At low levels radon is not dangerous, but once it passes a certain level, it becomes lethal. According to the Marble Institute of America, the report was not accurate.

"It's misleading to even hint that we would knowingly sell a product that might harm consumers! The report was prompted by a group that claims to be independent, but is actually funded by two companies that manufacture synthetic stone countertops..." a released statement said.
