Almost half the adult population in the UK has suffered an ache or strain either before, during or after making love, says a new study.

Almost half the adult population in the UK has suffered an ache or strain either before, during or after making love, says a new study.

According to the research, around 23 million Britons had a hurtful time during the steamy session this year, reports The Daily Star.

www.OnePoll.com, which carried out the survey, found that pulled muscles were the most common complaint, followed by back injuries and carpet burns.

Around 40 percent confessed they only realised they were injured the morning after the romp. And about 5 percent said they had to take time off work due to injuries suffered because of passion.

A spokesman for www.OnePoll.com said: "Sex is a risky business these days.

"There are numerous hazards in and around the home that can inflict severe injuries if people aren't careful.

"We were amazed to find out that even the bedroom can prove a hazardous location.

"Our advice would be to remove any dangerous objects well before you plan to start making love."
