According to a recent survey, it has been observed that there are some simple self-help measures for dealing with plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the band of fibrous tissue on the sole of the feet which connects the toes and the heel. It causes excruciating pain first thing in the morning, when you take a few steps, but it eases off once you have been on the move for a little while.

Plantar fasciitis clears up after treatment, but may take several months. Doctors at the suggest that you try daily stretching and strengthening of the sole - by toe curls and flexing and extending the foot. You could also place a cloth-covered ice pack over the sole after activity. Good quality walking or running shoes are also very important. Losing weight will help too. If all else fails, over-the-counter painkillers should be effective.
