'Red Ribbon Clubs' will be set up in all colleges in Haryana to create public awareness on HIV/AIDS and to encourage people for safe and regular blood donation.

State Health Minister Kartar Devi said Wednesday that each Red Ribbon Club would comprise eight to 16 students and would be headed by the college in-charge of the National Service Scheme.

Kartar Devi said villages and urban slums would be allocated to each club to educate people about causes and preventive measures of HIV/AIDS.

Members of these clubs would also help in checking professional blood donors, she added.

The minister said 22 integrated counseling and testing centres for HIV/AIDS will be set up at sub-divisional level across the state this month.
