Yoga will be taught in schools and colleges in Haryana, and an international institute for yoga and naturopathy will be set in Panchkula.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday, June 20, 2015, announced a number of programs to promote yoga, AYUSH and traditional games. He said, "Yoga training would be imparted in all schools, colleges and universities. A yoga and naturopathy institute of international level would be set up in Panchkula." Chief minister Khattar announced that yoga ’shalas’ would be set up in each village. He said, "In the first phase, more than 1,000 centers would be set up this year. Apart from yoga, training in five regional games would also be provided. All primary health centers would have a unit of AYUSH and Shri Krishna Ayurvedic Government College would be upgraded as AYUSH university. Yoga coaches, teachers and ’anganwadi’ workers would be imparted training at Patanjali Yogapeeth in Haridwar and refresher courses will be conducted for ayurvedic doctors."
A state-level function had been organized on June 21, 2015, in Karnal at which Khattar was the chief guest and about 21,000 yoga trainees participated in it. The chief minister said that more than 100,000 people performed yoga across the state on International Yoga Day on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
