Health Insurance Freebie For Hero Cycle Buyers In Rural India
If you happen to live in an Indian village and buy a Hero cycle, chances are, you will be offered a unique health insurance scheme in the near future.
The world's largest bicycle manufacturer, Hero Cycles, has announced that it has initiated talks with insurance firms for health cover for its rural customers. This, the company says, is in keeping with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) measures.

Mr Pankaj Munjal, the managing director of Hero Cycles said that the company wants to secure the lives of 500 million people in India who are potential customers of Hero Cycles. He did not disclose the name of the insurance provider with whom the firm was in talks. It is, however, known that the insurer will be a public sector firm.

Hero Cycles is yet to confirm if it will pay the premiums for the health insurance scheme for its customers. The proposed deadline for provision of the health insurance cover is September 2011.
