Kasauli (HP), Sept 27: Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss today fired another salvo at Medical Council of India – The apex medical body of the country. He said: "influence of mafias over such a regulatory body was a matter of grave concern."
The MCI is an autonomous body and the government has no say in its functioning. What irks the minister is lack of transparency in its functioning.He said a cleansing process of the councils was a major challenge and wanted support from all sections of society, including the media to accomplish the task. Previously also Mr. Ramadoss has made similar allegations against the apex health body, however no charges have been framed to date. This is most severe language used by the honorable minister against the members of MCI. The doctors in India look up to MCI for guidelines and this statement if true is a cause for grave concern to medical fraternity.
