"In Tamil Nadu, the number of Chikungunya cases has crossed 2.5 lakhs, while we have managed to prevent the fever spreading further along the coast," she said. In the district there were 600 cases each day in August, but on Saturday the number was just 18.Health officials said that their attention was now on Adimalathura where there were more than 50 cases on Saturday. District Medical Officer E.K. Madhavan has already been asked to depute two additional doctors at the Pulluvila primary health centre. Also fogging activities have intensified in the Kottukal area.
The Health Minister also asked the local panchayat to take care of local issues like scarcity of safe drinking water and proper sanitation.
