Healthcare And Education Top Most Priority Of The Govt: Nitish

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said providing quality healthcare and education to the people of Bihar was the topmost priority of his government and for this the government had earmarked enough fund .

After flagging off four mobile hospitals christened as 'apan asptal (own hospital) and an incinerator unit at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) here, Kumar said his government has initiated a number of measures to develop the district hospitals and primary health centres as state of art hospitals for which the government had already provided requisite fund.

He said from the first day of next month out door patients would get 13 medicines free of cost and those being treated for terminal diseases would be entitled for 26 medicines in medical colleges and government hospitals.

He said from now onwards people living below the poverty line (bpl) would not have to run for getting medical aid from the government as their proposals would be cleared from district levels. Necessary instructions have been issued to the concern ed authorities in this regard, he added.

Kumar said the IGIMS which was set up with much fanfare during congress regime had failed to deliver the goods and the government was committed to improve the condition of the institution and bring it on par with all India institute of medical sciences (AIIMS).

He said the IGIMS would soon have teaching facility too.

He said all the 38 districts would have mobile hospitals by the end of the next month so that rural masses could be delivered healthcare at their doorsteps.
