Some See A Hopeless End, While Others See An Endless Hope
Cancer may be a hard disease to go through for those who suffer from it. Only those who survive it realize the valve of the above saying which emphasizes the importance of hope. It actually makes them a stronger person and teaches how important everyday is! It probably teaches one about living life to the fullest in this world of materialism.
Some survivors even go to the extent of extending the enthusiasm for living to those afflicted with the so-called deadly disease. “It’s your body. It’s your mind. It’s your cancer. It’s your battle. Only you have the answers to how you can win.” Out of this battle plan was born the book ‘The Joy of Cancer’, written by Anup Kumar who was diagnosed with lung cancer in the year 2001. Ever since, his book has offered a new ray of hope for millions struggling to cope up with cancer.

Cancer is one disease, which has gained universal importance. Though a lot has been said and done from times immemorial about early cancer detection, treatment and cure, it has not been possible to eliminate the fear associated with the disease.

One of the main concerns in the field of oncology is the increasing number of women being diagnosed with breast cancer. Among the various forms of cancer that can affect women, breast cancer occupies the highest rank with nearly 59000 deaths associated with it every year. Age, personal or family history of breast cancer, genetic make up of an individual, obesity, hormonal supplements are some of the factors associated with increased risk of breast cancer. Leaving the responsibility of detection and treatment of breast cancer to members of the scientific community, it seems a practical approach to involve us in clearing certain myths and learning to not give up the mental fight at least.

Breast cancer is not a communicable disease; it arises as a result of certain cellular changes occurring within your body. The finding of just a lump or swelling in your breast does not mean that you have breast cancer. A number of tests would have to be carried out before the condition can be accurately diagnosed. Breast cancer occurs in men as well. However, the incidence is relatively small.

Mammogram, a special X-ray of the breast can help in early cancer detection and does not increase the risk of a person developing breast cancer. A variety of treatment options involving surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are available for treatment.

Time and over again, we have been surprised about the ability of the human mind. After undergoing a battery of tests, visits to numerous specialists, episodes of agony waiting for those health reports, it is time for you to turn the misery into joyful acceptance to conquer the unique illness. If you are still not convinced, it is time for you to peep into the lives of celebrities with breast cancer such as Kylie Minogue, Rachel Carson, Edie Falco, Betty Ford, Ruth Handler, Kate Jackson and many others who have been successful in coping up gracefully with the disease.

After all, it isn’t fair for you to remain passive when you cancer cells are being so active- Right?
