The National Programme for Prevention and Eradication of Heart Attack was launched to educate people over various awareness issues related to heart attacks.

‘More than 30 lakh fatalities due to heart diseases are recorded per year in India. And with the current outbreak of heart diseases in India, the conditions are only going to deteriorate.’

According to medical statistics, everyday about 9,000 people die of heart attacks -- which means one in every 10 seconds. Of these, 900 are people below the age of 40.

There was a huge response from the residents at the respective camps who flocked to get a heart check-up, and then learn from the documentary made for this camp called "Hriday - the Edu Vaccine".
"More than 30 lakh fatalities due to heart diseases are recorded per year in India. And with the current outbreak of heart diseases in India, the conditions are only going to deteriorate unless the mass population is educated about heart care," said Bimal Chajjer, Non Invasive Cardiologist at city based Science and Art of Living (SAAOL).
Chajjer is associated with the NPPEHA campaign.
