Heart Transplant Surgery: Recipient Falls in Love With Donor’s Sister
A heart transplant surgery has ended in romance after the recipient fell in love the sister of the donor with the couple saying that wedding bells are not too far in the future.
Kellen Roberts, 22, died following an accident when on a trip to Sioux Falls in 2005. Roberts was an organ donor and his family decided to respect his wishes by agreeing to organ donation. Connor Rabinowitz, then a 17-year old, was waiting for a heart to be available for a transplant surgery and after successfully undergoing the operation he decided to contact the donor family in order to express his thanks.

When Connor met Kellen’s sister, Erin, it was love at first sight for both of them with Connor making repeated visits to the family over the next four years and officially became a couple in 2011. Connor decided to shift to Seattle after completing his graduation in 2012 in order to be with Erin and the couple spent their first Valentine’s together this February.

“I didn’t have any words to describe it, it was just this, you know, connection. To know that a part of something you loved so much can continue on, but not just continue on in existence, but be the life force for someone else. I don’t know if there’s any words to describe that”, Erin said.
