Smartphones could be an effective tool in helping dieters integrate healthy behavior changes into their fight against excess kilos.
A new study published in the Journal of Telemedicine and e-Health suggests that smartphones could be an effective tool in helping dieters integrate healthy behavior changes into their fight against excess kilos. The study has been conducted by researchers at University of Missouri (MU) Columbia who said that using smartphone applications provides users with access to tracking of daily health behaviors, such as calorie intake and exercise, as well as provide visual feedback on their overall progress.
“Information technology repackages traditional weight loss strategies and provides new tools such as exercise logs and nutritional databases to implement that knowledge. Self-monitoring is key to successful weight loss and information technology can make these tasks more convenient”, lead researcher Cheryl Shigaki said.
