Running a home is much more stressful for your heart than being at work, claims a study by scientists from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, US. During the study period, scientists tested over 100 working men and women. While men and women both suffer from stress, scientists found that doing household chores like cooking, cleaning, mopping floors and shopping are worse for your heart than office stress. Those who took on most of the responsibility for running the home had significantly higher blood pressure than those who left it to their partners. However tasks like looking after children and pets had no adverse effects of blood pressure.
Scientists have said that it is not the workload itself but the stress about how to cope with it that causes this damage.
