In a major decision, it has emerged that homeopathy will continue to be offered on the NHS. A report by the House of Commons cross-party Select Committee on Science and Technology had called for a ban on homeopathy and had recommended that it should not be offered on the NHS.
The British Medical Association had also lent its support to the move saying there was no evidence that homeopathy would be successful in treating disease conditions.
The Department of Health though said that homeopathy will continue to be funded as a choice for patients. “We believe in patients being able to make informed choices about their treatments, and in a clinician being able to prescribe the treatment they feel most appropriate in particular circumstances,” a spokesman confirmed.
