Horns Implanted in Imaginative Bid to Remove Disfiguring Birthmark

Five-year-old George Ashman had horns implanted under his skin in an imaginative method to get rid of a large blemish on his forehead.

George had a large birthmark on his forehead, which was disfiguring and his mother Karen felt he would be the target of bullying in later life. She decided to have horn-shaped tissue expanders implanted under the skin on George’s forehead in order to get the skin stretched and get rid of the birthmark, the Daily Mail reported. "When I first saw the implants in place I was speechless. They were larger than I expected - and placed on either side of his tiny head like horns,” Karen said.  George was born with a hemangioma birthmark and was constantly targeted by neighbors who would snigger at him.

After 4 months of having the horns implanted under his sin, doctors finally stitched up the birthmark in April, much to the delight of his mother, who praised her son’s strength. "What I'm most proud of is that through all this, I've seen strength in George that I never had as a child,” she told the Daily Record.
