“Hospital Kiosks” Project in Kerala to Update Parents on Vaccination Schedule
An ambitious e-governance project by the Kerala government will see parents in the state receive information regarding vaccination programs of their babies through SMSes on their mobile phones.
The initiative will be part of the “Hospital Kiosks” project launched by the state government’s Information Kerala Mission (IKM) back in 2005. The Hospital Kiosks have quickly become popular with the government saying that over 60 percent of new births are registered online.

The director of IKM, A Shaji said that the available mode of registration will provide the government with a great chance of expanding any new social measures taken in future. He added that the contact info filled during online registration will be utilized to contact parents and remind them about their child’s vaccination program.

“There are several vaccinations and injections to be administered to the new-born babies. The SMS facility will help parents to remember the exact date and period of vaccinations and its significance”, he said.
