Hospital Staff Resigned Because of Toilet Miscarriage
A woman at a Frankston Hospital, Melbourne has claimed a traumatic pregnancy experience and has begun legal action.
Tracey Lake aged 41years, who was 10-12 weeks pregnant, complained of vaginal bleeding. She informed the staff that she was at risk of threatened abortion. Despite having informed the hospital authorities she had to wait for several hours to see the doctor and miscarried in the toilet after waiting for several hours. An inquiry into Ms. Lake’s case has revealed that she was not given proper care.

The two nurses have resigned and three other staff members are being counselled. The hospital has admitted their mistake and is investigating similar such complaints by several patients in the past. In 2009 a woman had claimed that the staff mismanaged her high-risk pregnancy. The hospital has decided to review and revise all the policies for dealing with women in the early stages of pregnancy.
