Mobile phone users have been frequently cautioned about the possible ill effects its radiations could bring to their health.
Apart from brain tumor and salivary gland tumor, the ongoing research conducted in this field has come out with more hazardous effects of the radiations upon skin as well. Protien structure alterations of the skin is the new threat posed by mobile users. The study was conducted by a group of researchers at the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK). A small part of the participant’s skin was exposed to mobile phone radiation and the biopsies taken from this area was compared to that of the non-exposed parts of the skin. Results showed that the protein structure of the exposed skin was altered by the radiation. Nearly 8 out of 580 proteins were found to be altered.
However lead researcher Dariusz Leszczynski said that they don’t want to jump into quick conclusions by relating these changes with risks to health. Those aspects require a more detail study and the results are yet to be found out.
In the BioMed Genomics (BMC) journal, Leszczynski wrote, "The aim of this project was not detecting any possible health effects, but to find out whether living human skin responds to mobile phone radiation and whether proteomics approach is useful in sorting out this issue."
Over and over again, the studies reveal the same thing, mobile phone radiations indeed has got an impact upon people’s health and the dangers involved should not be overlooked.
