Hypertension May Trigger Early Stroke

Incidences of blood pressure at an early age should not be ignored.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has revealed that early stroke and dementia maybe due to hypertension between the age of 25 years and 40 years. Incidences of blood pressure at an early age should not be ignored. The brain may sustain damage as a result of a lesser blood flow to it due to hypertension, thus raising the chances of dementia and stroke at an early age.

This has been confirmed in as many as 33% of the cases which were studied by the AIIMS. The departments of Biostatistics, Nuclear Medicine and Medicine at the AIIMS jointly conducted the study. The number of coronary artery disease is also reported to rising rapidly in India. As many as 33% of the Indians who belong to the 25 to 45 years age group suffer from different stages of hypertension, according to the study conducted by Dr S Sinha and Dr Misra.
