A condition where the salt and water balance in the body is skewed up is called Hyponatremia. This condition usually is triggered off by other conditions and requires urgent treatment.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) says that some of the symptoms caused by hyponatremia include muscle spasms or cramps, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and headache. Other serious signs are convulsions, hallucinations, confusion, unconsciousness and coma.Treatment involves administration of intravenous fluids to restore the proper salt to water balance. Burns, congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver or kidney disease may all cause hyponatremia and it is important to treat them first hand.
