Actress Eva Mendes, who has starred in hits like Hitch , says she was not a pretty child and was nicked named 'Bugsy' because she had buckteeth
"I had the nickname Bugsy, for Bugs Bunny, because I had buckteeth. I still have buckteeth, but then I was only like 70 pounds, so they really stood out," she was quoted as saying by pagesix.com.
"I never got braces because I am okay with my imperfections. In fact, I like to accentuate my buckteeth when I smile. I just have a big old smile. I never cover my mouth," she said.Cosmetic dentistry early in life can help to straiten a lot of the problems. Straighter teeth may improve their smile but there is no guarantee of happiness and improved self-esteem. In a study published in the British Journal of Health Psychology it was found that those who had received treatment such as braces had better tooth alignment and were happier with their teeth, but this did not have an impact on their self-esteem or emotional health compared with those who hadn't received any treatment.
