On Saturday, an Air India flight was delayed to allow a reportedly sick passenger to disembark, but he died on the way to the hospital.
A passenger on the Air India flight from New Delhi to Mumbai disembarked from the flight, causing a delay in departure, due to sudden illness before takeoff; he died en route to the hospital. As the passenger fell ill, a co-passenger immediately informed the crew members, and the pilot decided to turn back from the runway shortly before take-off around 10 a.m., an Air India official said in Mumbai.
The Delhi-Mumbai flight AI 887 returned to the terminal where the sick passenger was handed over to the airport doctors for urgent medical attention. The doctors recommended further tests for the passenger in a hospital, but he died en route.
The details of the passenger including age, illness and where he was from were not immediately known. The scheduled flight later took off around 11.40 a.m. for Mumbai.
