‘Immigrant Baby Boom’ Causing UK Population to Soar Twice As Much as EU Average
Britain's population is growing at a rate more than twice the European average, official figures have revealed.
According to Eurostat, the EU's statistical office, the number of people living in the UK rose by 409,000 last year, which is almost a third of the increase across all 27 EU countries.

A substantial share of the increasing population is a result of high levels of immigration and a 'baby boom' brought mainly by immigrants, the Daily Mail reports.

Around one in four babies is born to a mother who was born outside UK, the report said.

The figures further showed that England is becoming the most crowded country in Europe.

It showed that Britain would have the highest population on the continent within 40 years, overtaking both Germany and France, the paper said.

Eurostat said the UK's population growth of 409,000 in 2010 amounted to 30 per cent of the 1.4million added to numbers across the whole EU.

Britain's population went up at a rate of 6.6 new people for every 1,000 already in the country, well over double the EU average rate of 2.8 for every 1,000, the paper said.
