Indian Transplant Patients Participate in World Transplant Games 2017
The 21st edition of the Summer World Transplant Games is being held in Malaga, Spain from 25th June to 2nd July, 2017 which hosts transplant recipients from across the world.
The World Transplant Games Federation (WTG) hosted their first event in 1978 to promote awareness about organ donation and the physical success of transplant surgery.

The Summer Games are held every two years and the Winter Games in the intervening years. There are about 50 events and anyone who qualifies from the age group of four years to eighty years are eligible to participate. It is a great opportunity for the participants to reveal the ‘Power by the Gift of Life’.

The 2017 WTG is special for Indians, as this is the first time that a heart recipient from India is participating in the Games. Ms. Reena Raju , Karnataka’s first woman heart transplant recipient is representing India in the World Transplant Games in Badminton and 100-metre run.

Mr.Balveer Singh from Uttar Pradesh and Mr.Dharmendra Soti from Lucknow are also taking part in the games. We hope that this would be an inspiration for more Indian transplant recipients to come forward and utilize this opportunity to spread awareness about organ donation.
